Teaching Philosophy

Lessons are a safe space for students to have fun & dare to be bold!

Practicing fundamentals and establishing a good foundation of beautiful tone and efficient technique are the building blocks for musical excellence and artistry. Whilst we work hard to achieve technical excellence and performance skills, I encourage my students to prioritise expressing their own growing musicality. It is important to have weekly attainable goals as well as broader long term goals to help students celebrate their progress over their musical journey and also plan for the exciting possibilities ahead. Together we value progress over perfection. Beyond seeing musical skills improve, the goals of every lesson are to help foster confidence in oneself, practice kindness towards ourselves, and continually develop our ability to listen and communicate.
